BMI will seek to register all performances of your music (be they installations, concerts, live recordings, radio jingles, or otherwise) regardless of how or for whom you are performing. If you record your own version of a previously registered work, the copyright owner is entitled to a share of any royalties for that work, as well as a performance credit.
At the time of deposit you certify that you are the copyright owner of the music or of the sound recording for which the registration is being filed. Informed consent must accompany each registration produced for release or performance on a licensee's behalf. Informed consent will protect the copyright owner's economic interest. It is your responsibility, under the Copyright Act, to determine that the performer(s) and/or producer(s) whose permission you require have the legal authority to agree to the terms of this agreement. The consent is valid only if the copyright owner has the right to be consulted concerning the recording/performance on the part of the licensee. If an application is intended for exclusive use by a licensee, then the music, or sound recording, must be registered in the national or state jurisdiction where the exclusive use of the music or sound recording is taking place.
Register all works using the Copyright Catalog form. If you have not yet registered for the federal copyright, on the Copyright Catalog form enter the following information: (i) name of the organization or individual, (ii) name of the author or artist, (iii) name of all performing rights societies participating in the registration, (iv) date and place of publication, (v) date and publisher of the first publication, (vi) title and publisher of the copyrighted work, (vii) nature of the copyrighted work, (viii) name of the person depositing or who negotiated the original publication for which the registration is being filed, (ix) if you are registering the work with the Copyright Office, your name, postal address, telephone number, and fax number. All works should have at least a seven-year federal copyright term. d2c66b5586
