I have been playing with this program for a few months now. While it is a tremendous tool for 1 and 2-seater aircraft, it is not the program for me. First, a simple site crash. Second, with the demo (as of Nov.2009), the engine instrumentation is wrong. It is not true to the P3D simulations. It is also not consistent with the other flights. I have been trying to get a P3D engineer/representative to contact me for several weeks now. She has never responded and now I realize why.
A great sim, but the shared vfr airports have been altered too much. If you are still in XP10, I would recommend you to stay there, and not go to the next update, at least while you are learning this fantastic program. The vfr changes have been made so that the planes won't land at their real airports, which are closed now, so that you don't know where you don't want to go...if you are not flown there from an airport where you can see the correct runway lights, as they are simulated in the XP10 version.
I've had my issues with the whole 2018 fix, not just this version. My biggest complaint about the aircraft performance has always been the responsiveness to stick inputs - particularly roll. In this version, it is more like a brick wall. But hey, I'm getting used to it. The airport is the one thing I would recommend anyone even considering the upgrade have in mind is that sometimes it can take a bit to find your mouse when using the pricesheets while taxiing. That was my biggest issue and unfortunately takes a bit of time to "fade in" if you want to see where your aircraft is going.
After version 2018, I was still used to the old methods of right-click, left-click, and making selections with CTRL+mouse click. After a while, I also had to get used to the new style of just left-click, not even right-click. The only problem I had with this is sometimes the mouse would hang up, but not usually for long. d2c66b5586
