The original instruction is still the same, but this version includes a pretty much complete guide for the novice. Here "Novice" includes people who of course have never builded a PCB before, but are very used to making and programming embedded applications using a standard development platform like Arduino. Read that before you start reading my version.
I developed this tool to help those that cannot or do not want to understand arduino to create their own project. All you need is a dremmel, some basic soldering technique, and two generic 21 pin ribbon cables. It is based on SP1.2 and liberates you from using an assembler to turn your C code into a stream of 1s and 0s. The creamup is a combination of Forth and JavaScript for text input and device control.
In this Instructable I will show you how I used SP1.2 to make a nice LED-Mat object using an 16x4-matrix. This is such a fun project on its own, but it also shows the advantage of using SP1.2. See the tutorial about SP1.2, and here's how you can create your own LED matrix object.
This section contains the full program, it has been divided to single lines for better readability. You will see how it works, how it's programmed, how it uses a regex expression to identify some numbers, and how it translates the result to an actual number.
You can easily skip this part and jump to the section "Crunching the number" to look up and translate numbers from a regular expression, but there's no real reason for doing this, so I went through the arduino library. d2c66b5586
